The First Environmental Protection Award Ceremony of Colorful Yunnan Environmental Protection Initiative

The First Environmental Protection Award Ceremony of Colorful Yunnan Environmental Protection Initiative was held in Kunming on 10 July 2011.
Mr. Zhang Tianxin, Director of the Yunnan Provincial Publicity Department, Ms. Cheng Yingxuan, Deputy Director of the Yunnan Provincial People’s Delegates Standing Committee, Mr. Gu Boping, Vice Chairman of the Political Consultative Conference of Yunnan Province presided over the ceremony and delivered the awards to the award-winners.

The selection activities of the First Environmental Protection Award was sponsored by the Yunnan Provincial Publicity Department and Yunnan Provincial Leading Group Office of the Colorful Yunnan Environmental Protection Initiative. The China Environmental Cultural Improvement Association and the Yunnan Chihong Zinc & Germanium Co., Ltd. also provided support. The objective of the Award is to call on the public to serve Colorful Yunnan Environmental Protection Initiative by “beginning with myself, starting right now and then begin with your neighbor”.

The principle of selecting the top 10 candidates for the First Environmental Protection Award was open, fair and impartial.

“The Environmental Protection Distinguished Person - Special Mention” was awarded to Mr. Yang Shanzhou, former secretary of Baoshan Municipal People’s Government. Mr. Liu Siyu, Mr. Henry Voigt and other eight persons were awarded the “Top Ten Environmental Protection Distinguished Person”. Lijiang Municipal Youth Green Homeland of Energy Environment Popular Science and other 5 units were awarded “Environmental Protection Supporting Award”, Yunnan Chihong Zinc & Germanium Co., Ltd. was awarded “Environmental Protection Supporting Award - Special Award”.
